Aerial lifts are commonly used devices that provide temporary access for people or equipment in hard-to- reach areas, usually overhead. Aerial lifts have replaced ladders and scaffolding on many jobsites due to their mobility and flexibility. But this equipment can be hazardous to both operators and employees working nearby. Common hazards include falls, ejection from the platform, electrocution from exposed wires and power lines, collapsing structures, and falling objects. Lift operators and others working near the vehicles must be able to recognize hazards and follow safe work practices and operating procedures to prevent accidents and injuries

When this training is complete, operators of aerial lifts and those working near the devices will be able to:

  • Identify aerial lift hazards.
  • Safely operate equipment.
  • Properly inspect the aerial lift.
  • Take precautions to prevent accidents and injuries.
