Motor vehicle accidents are a leading cause of accidental death in the United States. They are also the number one cause of work-related fatalities. In fact, one in four work-related deaths is the result of a motor vehicle accident. Motor vehicle accidents cost employers nearly $50 billion annually. The average crash resulting in an injury costs nearly $65,000, and fatal crashes can cost employers over $650,000. These deaths, injuries, and costs, however, are preventable. Training employees to drive safely and defensively can significantly reduce the risks.
