Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls

Slips, trips, and falls are a leading cause of workplace injuries. Busy, bustling workplaces with all kinds of work activities are full of slip, trip, and fall hazards. And those hazards place employees at risk of accidents and injuries.

These accidents are costly in both human and financial terms. It’s been estimated that workplace falls alone cost U.S. businesses $9 billion annually in direct medical costs and lost workdays. Lost workdays create havoc for busy supervisors and co-workers, who must not only get their own work done but also fill in for absent employees so that production is not affected.

Some slips, trips, and falls are minor. But others may result in pain and suffer- ing for those who are injured, and sometimes, permanent disability. What’s more, some 800 workplace falls a year result in worker deaths. In short, you simply can’t afford to ignore a safety issue as important as slips, trips, and falls.
